No worker fees
Never, for any reason.
Supplying temporary workers, from Colchester.
Fred & Drew Ltd is registered for temporary employment agency activities (SIC 78200) and is registered at Avondene Drive in Colchester.
We operate as an employment business: we supply temporary workers to hirers, and during an assignment the worker is engaged by us rather than by the hirer. That is a different thing from an employment agency introducing someone for permanent work, and the distinction decides which obligations apply. We say which one we are acting as every time.
The rules that matter most to a worker are these. We do not charge, and may not charge, a work-seeker a fee for finding or seeking to find them work. We give workers written terms before we do anything for them, including the rate, who pays it and the notice that applies. We do not make a job offer conditional on buying services, training, equipment or accommodation from us or from anyone we are connected to. We do not withhold pay because a timesheet has not been signed, if the hours were worked. And after twelve weeks on the same assignment, agency workers are entitled to the same basic terms as if they had been recruited directly, which we apply rather than wait to be asked about.
The rules that matter most to a hirer: terms in writing before we supply anybody, honest information about the people we put forward, and the statutory right to work checks actually done.
If an agency ever asks you to pay to be found work, or ties your pay to signing something, that is not a grey area. You can report it to the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate, and you should.
Never, for any reason.
Terms before we act.
Applied at 12 weeks.
